01Summary

JTV collects no account information and has no sign-in. There is nothing to register and no profile attached to you.

The camera stream used by the food scanner is processed in real time on your device. Frames are not saved, not stored and not transmitted anywhere.

Translation runs entirely on your phone and needs no internet connection. Your approximate location is used only to pick a country for safety alerts.

The app shows banner advertisements through Google AdMob, which collects limited data in order to serve them. That is described in full in the third-party section below.

02Data safety at a glance

These are the same answers declared in the Google Play Console "Data safety" form for this app.

03Other companies involved

Every outside company this app relies on, what it does for the app, and what it can see.

Google AdMob — advertising

Google LLC

Displays banner advertisements, which keep the app free. Google’s consent tool presents a consent prompt where regional law requires one, before any personalised ad is served.

What they can see

  • Your device’s advertising ID — a resettable number, not your name
  • IP address, and approximate location derived from it
  • Device information such as model, operating system, language and network state
  • Ad interaction data — ads shown and whether they were tapped

This is collected by Google LLC, not by us, and is governed by its own policies.

Google on-device translation and barcode reading

Google LLC

Translates text and reads product barcodes. Both run entirely on your device. A language pack is downloaded once, after which no text and no camera image ever leaves your phone.

What they can see

Nothing. This runs entirely on your phone and sends no data at all.

Google LLC privacy policy

Google location services

Google LLC

Provides an approximate location, used only to determine which country to show safety alerts for. You can also pick the country manually and skip location entirely.

What they can see

  • Approximate (coarse) device location

This is collected by Google LLC, not by us, and is governed by its own policies.

Google LLC privacy policy

YouTube

Google LLC

Powers the travel video and Shorts feed. Playback is embedded, so YouTube may set cookies and record playback events under its own terms.

What they can see

  • Video playback and viewing activity, as governed by YouTube

This is collected by Google LLC, not by us, and is governed by its own policies.

Open Food Facts

Open Food Facts

Resolves a scanned barcode into product and ingredient data. Only the barcode number is sent — never an image and never anything identifying you.

What they can see

  • The scanned barcode number, and the IP address of the request

This is collected by Open Food Facts, not by us, and is governed by its own policies.

Frankfurter exchange rates

Frankfurter

Supplies live currency exchange rates. Requests contain only currency codes — no amounts you type and nothing about you.

What they can see

  • The IP address of the request

This is collected by Frankfurter, not by us, and is governed by its own policies.

Our own server

Cloudflare

This is our own server, which we run on Cloudflare. It prepares the video feed and serves the visa data. It keeps no records about you — requests are handled and discarded.

What they can see

  • Standard server request metadata such as IP address and timestamp

This is collected by Cloudflare, not by us, and is governed by its own policies.

04Information we collect

We, the developer, collect no personally identifiable information. The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no analytics operated by us. What the app handles locally is listed below.

Camera
Used only by the food scanner. Images from the camera stream are processed in real time on your device to read a barcode, and are not saved, stored or transmitted.
Location
Approximate location is read through Google’s location service solely to determine your country code for safety alerts. It is used on the device, is not stored by us, and is optional — you can select a country manually instead.
Local storage
Video metadata, bookmarked foods, saved visa lookups and cached exchange rates are stored on your device. Saved foods are included in Android’s own backup so your bookmarks survive a reinstall; everything else is removed when you uninstall.

05Permissions

Camera
Required to scan a product barcode. Requested at the moment you open the scanner, and never used in the background.
Approximate location
Optional. Used only to pick the country for safety alerts. Denying it leaves every feature usable; you simply choose the country yourself.
Internet
Used to load the video feed, visa data, exchange rates, product lookups and advertisements. The offline features — translation, safety alerts, saved foods and travel guides — work without it.

07Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. The app is a general-purpose travel utility and is not directed to children.

08Security

Everything the app sends is encrypted in transit. Because the app holds no account and stores its data locally, that data is protected by your device’s own security. Keep your device and its software up to date.

09Your rights and choices

  • Revoke the camera or location permission at any time in Android settings; the app keeps working with reduced functionality.
  • Delete bookmarked foods from inside the app.
  • Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data.
  • Reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation, from Settings → Google → Ads.
  • Where a consent prompt applies to your region, change or withdraw consent at any time from the app’s privacy settings.

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or erase. Requests concerning advertising data should be directed to Google, which acts as the controller for it.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.

11Contact

If you have any questions about this privacy policy, or about how JTV handles information, contact us and we will respond.
